WITNESS ~ INSTRUCT ~ NURTURE / Volume 1 Issue 15 Jun 1, 2005 Hi ! In this issue, you'll read: WORD FROM THE EDITOR - WEEK FIFTEEN Also, it has been brought to our attention by a faithful reader that we had a formatting problem with the margins in the last edition that caused the text to the far right to be chopped off when printing. This error has been corrected and a new edition posted on the website. If you would like to print a copy of last week's reformatted edition, please do so from This week, we are completing our study of the Book of Philippians. It is my prayer that each of you who have taken the time to follow the outline and complete the study has been blessed with a greater understanding of what the Holy Spirit was trying to teach us through Paul's letter to the Philippian church. Next week, we are moving on to the Book of Colossians and looking at the reason for that letter and how it applies to us today. Until next week... Blessings to all, All editions of The W.I.N. In your devotions this week, read Psalm 56 and note how this psalm is quoted in the New Testament (read Hebrews 13:5). As you read the psalm, talk to the Lord about the content of this psalm. When you have finished, go back and choose II. Bible Study This week we are going to look at the fourth section of Philippians, beginning with Chapter 4, verse 2. This section divides again into three subsections with the final greetings at the end. Read each subsection separately, answering for yourself the questions associated with them. Type out your answers or jot them down on a piece of paper and place in your Bible for further meditation and study. Read Philippians 4:2-5 1. Two women of Philippi, counted as co-workers with Paul, were at contention with one another (4:2). Where does Paul say their agreement lies? Read Philippians 4:6-9 1. In 4:6-7, what does Paul say will guard your heart and mind? Why do you think he says it "surpasses all understanding?" Read Philippians 4:10-20 III. Memory Verse Here are a few suggestions that may help you to memorize your memory verses: 1. Ask the Lord to help you remember his Word (see John 14:26). 2. Use the version of the Bible you are most familiar with. What you normally read in your Bible is what you need to be memorizing. 3. Don't just memorize the contents of the verse; memorize its "address" (the verse reference) as well. You can do this by following this pattern: Step 1: reference; Step 2: verse content; Step 3: reference. Then repeat steps 1-3. Note that you are quoting the reference twice as many times as you quote the actual verse content. This gives the verse a clear "reference tag." 4. After you have read your memory verse out aloud several times, try going through your memory verse without reading your computer screen. 5. Look up your memory verse in your Bible. Look at its immediate context and read the verses that come before and after your memory verse. 6. Print out your memory verse or jot it down on a piece of paper. Take this paper with you when you go to work or do other daily activities. Meditate on the meaning of the verse throughout the day. 7. During your noon appointment with the Lord, take out your memory verse and go over it again. Talk to the Lord about what this verse means to you personally. 8. In the evening (at either your evening study or your evening devotions), see if you can quote your memory verse from memory. Then, without looking at the memory verse itself, see if you can find it in your Bible. 9. The next day, before you begin committing a new verse to memory, rehearse your previous day's memory verse and see if you can remember it (without cheating!). 10. Finally, at the end of the week (possibly on Sunday), collect all your week's memory verses, rehearse them and see if you can recall them without reading them. Spend a little extra time on any verses you have difficulty recalling. 11. Remember: Don't just memorize a verse. Put it into practice (James 1:22). It is not being able to quote a verse from memory that counts. It is His Word abiding in your heart that counts (John 15:7). When you actually apply a verse consistently to your daily life; that is when you truly know that verse! This article is Copyright © 1999, The Online Bible College. Pastor Daniel used to go for every second Saturday fellowship and a church was formed in their home with 55 members. Hundreds came to the Lord through this fellowship and were baptized. Couples were trained for church planting and evangelism. People moved in to other villages and started planting churches. It was at that time they were transferred to Trivandrum from north Kerala to south Kerala. It was with much reluctance and tears they moved to Trivandrum. But the Lord promised them that He is sending them over there to shake the strong holds of {the} devil and set people free from the chains of Satan. Now three years have passed. From the first day of their move sister Lily became sick and had to undergo through many operations. She became too weak and the doctors could not find out the reason. The children of God prayed for her healing and the Lord delivered her. As per their commitment to the Lord both of them resigned their jobs and became full time ministers of the gospel and started a deliverance prayer service at home. People living around them were idolaters and spirit worshippers. God touched one by one. Neighbors who did sorcery and witchcraft against brother Ramanan and Sister Lily were amazed to see the power of God working through them and sensed their power being nullified. They too started asking the prayers for their families. Wednesday prayer meeting grew from 10 to 20 to 50 and 80. [the most they can accommodate in their rooms] They started another meeting on Tuesday to accommodate new people. Today there are 4 meetings in a week and hundreds attend every week. Little by little they taught them the word of God and led them into the full knowledge of Christ. 58 people received water baptism with in last 10 months. Finally Sunday worship was started on May 1st. 88 people came for the service. They are in need of a place for worship. I request the prayers of our readers for this need. Brother Ramanan and Sister Lily have started 4 more prayer fellowships which will soon become worship centres. Please pray for the ministry of brother Ramanan and Sister Lily. 1. 200 Bibles for the converts [$500] With Love, Dr. Daniel Editor's Note: Dr. K. V.
