WITNESS ~ INSTRUCT ~ NURTURE / Volume 1 Issue 25 Sep 7, 2005 Hi ! In this issue, you'll read: A WORD FROM THE EDITOR - TWENTY FIFTH EDITION We would like to let everyone know that we have just chartered a new church that is starting services in the Aberdeen Washington area in the next few months. The church name is Destiny of Hope Fellowship and the pastor is Rev. Dellhue Johnson Jr. If you would like to send a welcome e-mail or note of encouragement to Pastor Dell, you may write to him at On a final note, I would like to say thanks to all of those who have been praying for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. As the days slip by and the news wanes, let's keep in mind that these displaced individuals will, in some cases, be months getting back into a home of their own. They will need our continued prayers and I would also encourage those who can to help support the relief effort with your financial contributions. Please send your donations to the charity of your choice that is working with these unfortunate people. All editions of The W.I.N. E-Mail Newsletter are available on the Internet. To find them, navigate to www.fcgm.org and click on the "Newsletter" link. Feel free to copy as many as you want and pass them out to family and friends. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, send an e-mail containing your name and e-mail address to winsubscribe@fcgm.org. Each morning, read a Scripture passage of your choice. Talk with the Lord as you read His Word. When you are finished, go back and select one or two verses which you believe God is using to speak to you and meditate thoughtfully and prayerfully on what He is saying. II. This morning we will look at the third section of Paul's letter to the Galatians - chapters 5-6. This section can be divided into three subsections. Read each subsection and answer for yourself the questions associated with them. Type out your answers or jot them down on a piece of paper and place in your Bible for further meditation and study. Read Galatians 5:1-12 1. In 5:1, how does Paul describe the Covenant of Law? Read Galatians 5:13-26 1. How is our freedom in the New Covenant to be expressed? (5:13-16) Read Galatians 6:1-18 1. What do you think is the law of Christ and how does Paul say we can fulfil it? (6:1-6) III. Memory Verse Here are a few suggestions that may help you to memorize your memory verses: 1. Ask the Lord to help you remember his Word (see John 14:26). 2. Use the version of the Bible you are most familiar with. What you normally read in your Bible is what you need to be memorizing. 3. Don't just memorize the contents of the verse; memorize its "address" (the verse reference) as well. You can do this by following this pattern: Step 1: reference; Step 2: verse content; Step 3: reference. Then repeat steps 1-3. Note that you are quoting the reference twice as many times as you quote the actual verse content. This gives the verse a clear "reference tag." 4. After you have read your memory verse out aloud several times, try going through your memory verse without reading your computer screen. 5. Look up your memory verse in your Bible. Look at its immediate context and read the verses that come before and after your memory verse. 6. Print out your memory verse or jot it down on a piece of paper. Take this paper with you when you go to work or do other daily activities. Meditate on the meaning of the verse throughout the day. 7. During your noon appointment with the Lord, take out your memory verse and go over it again. Talk to the Lord about what this verse means to you personally. 8. In the evening (at either your evening study or your evening devotions), see if you can quote your memory verse from memory. Then, without looking at the memory verse itself, see if you can find it in your Bible. 9. The next day, before you begin committing a new verse to memory, rehearse your previous day's memory verse and see if you can remember it (without cheating!). 10. Finally, at the end of the week (possibly on Sunday), collect all your week's memory verses, rehearse them and see if you can recall them without reading them. Spend a little extra time on any verses you have difficulty recalling. 11. Remember: Don't just memorize a verse. Put it into practice (James 1:22). It is not being able to quote a verse from memory that counts. It is His Word abiding in your heart that counts (John 15:7). When you actually apply a verse consistently to your daily life; that is when you truly know that verse! This article is Copyright © 1999, The Online Bible College. We will host a leaders' meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Our mandate is to first bless the pastors. We anticipate receiving 500 leaders and will feed them the meat of the Word and a meal. We will be giving away shirts & ties, socks, bikes, bibles, and whatever else the Lord provides. Together, we will harvest souls. For the following four days, we will gather the people from some of the most remote places imaginable. We will praise, laugh, dance, sing, worship, preach, call forward the sick, and expect our God to be mighty among us. We will also begin the initial work for drilling a well in this area where the child mortality rate is 50% due to water-borne illnesses. Please consider seeding into this vital work with a monetary love gift. By far, this will be the most expensive outreach to date with the costs of transporting a team of 15, plus all the equipment, food, etc. Most team members will stay in mud huts to help reduce costs. Only three members (guests from the USA) will board in a home with running water and electricity. Perhaps you can sponsor just one area to help preach the gospel: Please send your contribution today to: PO Box 1534, Sandy, OR 97055 to receive a year-end tax-receipt. We need and appreciate your partnership. God is moving mightily in Kenya and the eternal reward is equal for those sowing and those reaping! Won't you please be a part of the blessing of God? EDITOR'S NOTE: This report was sent to us by Pastor Jerry and Pam Owuor. Pastor Jerry is an ordained minister with Freedom Covenant Global Ministries, Western Region, headquartered in Sandy, Oregon. His ministry, GILGOM [God is Love Gospel Outreach Ministry] International currently has ministry teams traveling and ministering in Kenya, East Africa. Please keep them lifted up in your prayers.
