A CITY FOR THE KIDS

A WORD FROM THE EDITOR - THIRTY FIRST EDITION

Welcome to the thirty first edition of the W.I.N. E-Mail Newsletter. Today is the 64th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This act by the Japanese drew America into World War II and changed our history forever. But as bad as this war, there is one greater. However this war is not against another nation or people. It is against our adversary Satan.

Ephesians 6:10-12; "10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."

It has been said that many warnings regarding the Pearl Harbor bombing were ignored, and many lives were lost as a result. In regards to the war with Satan, God's Word has been speaking warnings to us for many long years, but for some, history seems to be repeating itself. We are told very clearly to "put on the whole armor of God..." but so much of the time, we don't seem to take the warnings seriously. There is a purpose for each piece of the armor and we should be aware that our part in this war with Satan is very vital to our wearing it in its completeness.

Ephesians 6:13-18; "13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints..."

As you can see from the Scripture above, most of the armor is defensive in nature. Its purpose is to protect us while we carry out our part in the war. What is our part, you ask? It is our responsibility "...to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand...pray[ing] always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints..." It is our responsibility to stand, watch and pray. And we should learn to take our responsibility seriously in order to avoid a spiritual Pearl Harbor in our lives or those lives within our circle of influence.

Until next time...God bless you in all that you undertake!

THE BOOK OF 1st CORINTHIANS - PART SIX

I. Devotional Reading

Each morning, read a Scripture passage of your choice. Talk with the Lord as you read his Word. When you are finished, go back and select one or two verses that you believe the Lord is using to speak to your heart. Meditate thoughtfully and prayerfully on what he is saying to you.

II. Bible Study

In this edition, we will look at the third subsection of 1 Corinthians 7-10. In this subsection, Paul opens his heart and shares his attitude to ministry as an example of how the Corinthian Christians should behave. This chapter also addresses the divisions that had arisen within the Corinthian Church in regard to apostolic ministry (note 1:10-12; 3:1-23; 4:1-21). Read chapter 9 and answer for yourself the questions associated with it. Type out your answers (or jot them down on a piece of paper) and place in your Bible for further medication and study.

Read 1 Corinthians 9:1-14

1. What did Paul consider the seal of his apostleship in the Lord? (9:1-2).
2. In 9:3-14, what is the main point Paul is making to the Corinthians?
3. Although Paul had every right to demand support from the Corinthian Christians, why did he choose not to use this right? (9:12).

Read 1 Corinthians 9:15-23

1. What is the "boast" that Paul could potentially rely on? (9:15).
2. Why, however, could Paul not boast? (9:16-17).
3. What did Paul count as his reward? (9:18).
4. In order to win as many as possible to Christ, what did Paul do? (9:19-23).

Read 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

1. What two Olympic sports did Paul use to illustrate his attitude to life and ministry? (9:24-27).
2. In 9:27, why did Paul say that he "beat [his] body"?
3. What was the prize for which Paul could be disqualified if he did not "[go] into strict training"? (9:27) (note Philippians 3:14 and its context)

III. Memory Verse

1 Corinthians 9:24; "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it."

Here are a few suggestions that may help you to memorize your memory verses:

1. Ask the Lord to help you remember his Word (see John 14:26).

2. Use the version of the Bible you are most familiar with. What you normally read in your Bible is what you need to be memorizing.

3. Don't just memorize the contents of the verse; memorize its "address" (the verse reference) as well. You can do this by following this pattern: Step 1: reference; Step 2: verse content; Step 3: reference. Then repeat steps 1-3. Note that you are quoting the reference twice as many times as you quote the actual verse content. This gives the verse a clear "reference tag."

4. After you have read your memory verse out aloud several times, try going through your memory verse without reading your computer screen.

5. Look up your memory verse in your Bible. Look at its immediate context and read the verses that come before and after your memory verse.

6. Print out your memory verse or jot it down on a piece of paper. Take this paper with you when you go to work or do other daily activities. Meditate on the meaning of the verse throughout the day.

7. During your noon appointment with the Lord, take out your memory verse and go over it again. Talk to the Lord about what this verse means to you personally.

8. In the evening (at either your evening study or your evening devotions), see if you can quote your memory verse from memory. Then, without looking at the memory verse itself, see if you can find it in your Bible.

9. The next day, before you begin committing a new verse to memory, rehearse your previous day's memory verse and see if you can remember it (without cheating!).

10. Finally, at the end of the week (possibly on Sunday), collect all your week's memory verses, rehearse them and see if you can recall them without reading them. Spend a little extra time on any verses you have difficulty recalling.

11. Remember: Don't just memorize a verse. Put it into practice (James 1:22). It is not being able to quote a verse from memory that counts. It is His Word abiding in your heart that counts (John 15:7). When you actually apply a verse consistently to your daily life; that is when you truly know that verse!

A CITY FOR THE KIDS

Dear Bishop Sam

Greetings. Once again I trust in the Lord and take courage to share with you what the Lord has put in my heart. In the month of November I was in the presence of the Lord seeking His plans and projects for the year 2006. I am 50 years old now. But As Caleb said I feel I can do all things through Jesus who enables me. I am writing this letter to share with you the new vision and mission I had from the Lord. This is Kids’ City. “A city for God’s own Children”. Bible says every child is created wonderfully and awesome. But today millions of kids are aborted, abused and killed . We have to do our best to save these kids and raise them in the love of God. They are God’s future generation. They are the future kings and prophets.

Kids’ City will be a City with 100 Mercy homes and 1000 kids with their parents.

1. We plan to buy 5 or more acres of land.
2. Build 20 apartments. Each unit will have 6 houses in 3 floors.
3. A school.
4. A hospital/ Clinic
5. A church/Auditorium
6. Swimming pool
7. A library
8. Sports ground
9. Internet Café
10. Shops
11. Garden
12. Guest houses [A/C and non A/C] where mission teams can come in group and minister to kids and stay for awhile.

This will be:

1) A place where hurting, helpless and hopeless kids will come to receive hope.
2) A place where children will be well fed, clothed and sheltered. They will not have worries of the basic elements of life.
3) A place where children will be loved in small groups by committed, loving and caring parents.
4) A place where kids will be taught the Bible from the earliest ages possible.
5) A place where kids will be encouraged to explore their God given gifts and will be encouraged to use them to advance the Kingdom.
6) A place where children will have fun and not live in fear or discouragement.
7) A place that will develop children into leaders, biblical scholars, authors, singers, teachers, pastors, healers, encouragers and lovers of the Word.
8) A place that will have 1 Corinthians 13 on the entrance sign into the city and on the exit sign out of the city and practiced everywhere in between.
9) A place where God's grace, mercy, compassion, and love can rest all day everyday.
10) A place where mission groups can come and visit and leave with a passion and fire to love others as Christ loves us. Then be led to start Mercy Homes in their communities and villages.
11) A place where joy is abundant.
12) A place that when built will have hundreds of people donating $100 per month to support the project.
13) A place that will be ran efficiently from the water supplies, electricity, food, sewage and leadership. There will be no provisions made for pride, ego, slander and the like.
14) A place where adults that are overflowing with the Holy Spirit will be drawn to sign up to lead Mercy homes.
15) A place where mission groups will come and be so loved and well taken care of that they will leave with more fire than ever before.
16) A place that children will not be loved as the world loves them but will experience God's love flowing into their lives and then will naturally overflow into the dark and dying world around them.
17) A place that will not lack financially but finances will be supplied in abundance by the Body of Christ not out of apprehension but of joy.
18) A place where children can walk around in the dark and not be afraid.
19) A place that is a living witness of the Love of our Lord and Savior.
20) A place that will be pointed to and referenced by others as to what missions are really about.

Please send your comments and suggestions.
