Welcome to the thirty third edition of the W.I.N. E-Mail Newsletter. We would like to wish all of you a Blessed, Prosperous, and Happy New Year! It is very exciting to begin our second year with this publication. It is our prayer that it has been a blessing to all those who read it.

In Galatians 5:22-23, we read these words: 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [KJV]

May this verse be manifest in each of our lives in 2006! Until next time...God bless you in all that you undertake!

THE BOOK OF 1st CORINTHIANS - PART EIGHT

I. Devotional Reading

Each morning, read a Scripture passage of your choice. Talk with the Lord as you read his Word. When you are finished, go back and select one or two verses that you believe the Lord is using to speak to your heart. Meditate thoughtfully and prayerfully on what he is saying to you.

II. Bible Study

Today we will start reading the third section of Paul's first letter to the Corinthians - chapters 11-14. In this section, Paul begins to answer the questions the Corinthians had previously sent him by letter. These questions had apparently related to their worship and the specific problems that had arisen in their gatherings as a church. It is important to understand the background to these questions and problems in Corinth, for this reflects in the manner with which Paul writes his answers. Paul deals with three particular issues:

1. How do women fit into the gatherings of the church? (11:3-16)

In regard to women in the church, Paul answers two queries:

a. Should women cover their heads publicly?

b. Should they minister publicly?

Paul is addressing the issues raised by the Judaizers who had invaded the Corinthian church after he left. It is to their statements that Paul is replying. For example, 14:34-35 is a direct quote from the Jewish Oral Law, which the Judaizers held to be of equal authority to the Old Testament. Paul is in fact quoting the Judaizers to refute the Judaizers.

2. How should the Lord's Table be conducted? (11:17-34)

This sub-section focuses on issues relating to the breaking of bread and sharing of the Lord's cup.

3. How should the gifts of the Spirit operate? (12:1-14:40)

This sub-section answers issues concerning the operation of the gifts of the Spirit.

Now, with this outline to help you, pull up a comfortable chair and read through chapters 11-14 in one sitting. Try to find time to repeat this several times over the next couple of weeks. That way, when we will begin to break it down into sections and sub-sections, you will have a general understanding of these chapters which will help make the detailed study more meaningful.

III. Memory Verse

1 Corinthians 13:13; "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

Here are a few suggestions that may help you to memorize your memory verses:

1. Ask the Lord to help you remember his Word (see John 14:26).

2. Use the version of the Bible you are most familiar with. What you normally read in your Bible is what you need to be memorizing.

3. Don't just memorize the contents of the verse; memorize its "address" (the verse reference) as well. You can do this by following this pattern: Step 1: reference; Step 2: verse content; Step 3: reference. Then repeat steps 1-3. Note that you are quoting the reference twice as many times as you quote the actual verse content. This gives the verse a clear "reference tag."

4. After you have read your memory verse out aloud several times, try going through your memory verse without reading your computer screen.

5. Look up your memory verse in your Bible. Look at its immediate context and read the verses that come before and after your memory verse.

6. Print out your memory verse or jot it down on a piece of paper. Take this paper with you when you go to work or do other daily activities. Meditate on the meaning of the verse throughout the day.

7. During your noon appointment with the Lord, take out your memory verse and go over it again. Talk to the Lord about what this verse means to you personally.

8. In the evening (at either your evening study or your evening devotions), see if you can quote your memory verse from memory. Then, without looking at the memory verse itself, see if you can find it in your Bible.

9. The next day, before you begin committing a new verse to memory, rehearse your previous day's memory verse and see if you can remember it (without cheating!).

10. Finally, at the end of the week (possibly on Sunday), collect all your week's memory verses, rehearse them and see if you can recall them without reading them. Spend a little extra time on any verses you have difficulty recalling.

11. Remember: Don't just memorize a verse. Put it into practice (James 1:22). It is not being able to quote a verse from memory that counts. It is His Word abiding in your heart that counts (John 15:7). When you actually apply a verse consistently to your daily life; that is when you truly know that verse!

REPORT FROM WHITESTONE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

December 29, 2005

Dear Pastor Sam,

Reporting in from Tucson [Arizona], WHITESTONE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP...We're still enjoying the blessings of our Lord in abundance...Praise His Name!

Our attendance has held up wonderfully well this past year.

We're looking forward to our WATCH NIGHT service beginning at 9:00PM [New Year's Eve]. We will have several fifteen minute speakers and special singers. We'll break at or around 10:30 to 11:00PM for soup and sandwiches. We will serve Holy Communion just before midnight and be on our knees in prayer to our Savior when the New Year comes in. What a wonderful, sweet time with the Lord.

Our Watch Night service last year was a great time had by all. The place was full and full of God's Spirit.

We are looking forward to a new and better year in 2006. Keep us in your prayers as we will all of you. God bless.

I remain in His service,
Reverend B.L. Laster

EDITOR'S NOTE: I was talking with my son-in-law on New Year's Eve. He told me that he had always heard that whatever a person was doing when the New Year came in would be an indication of what they would be doing all year long.

As I read Pastor Bobby's letter a couple of days later, I could not help but think, "What a wonderful way to spend the whole year, worshipping and praising the Lord together! And don't forget about being on our faces before Him in prayer.

Thank you Pastor Bobby and Whitestone Christian Fellowship for sharing with us the wonderful principal of starting the New Year with our Lord! God bless all of you as you continue to serve Him.

CHRISTMAS HARVEST

Dear Bishop Sam,

Seasons Greetings to all of our covenant members.

With in last two months we were able to conduct 6 evangelistic meetings in 6 villages which harvested 600 souls to the Kingdom.

Three days evangelistic Meetings in two villages of Hyderabad brought 390 people to the Lord. 20 Buddhists were baptized and added to the Kingdom.

On 21 we had the meeting at Insapur village which is 50 Km's away from Hyderabad. 250 people came for the meeting. This is the first public meeting in that village. Pastor Seemon is working in this village for last few months. We already have 30 people coming to worship on every Sunday evening under a tree as they don't have a place to worship. As a result of this meeting 60 more Buddhists accepted Jesus as their Lord and God. When the call for Prayer was given people were running towards me for prayer and a touch form the Lord. They confessed Jesus in public as their Lord and God. 30 are ready to be baptized. But we can not baptize them without a place to worship. It will cost $5000 for a land and hall.

On 22nd we went to a Village called Bichugunda which is 170 KM away from Hyderabad. This was my second trip to Bichugunda. After 6 hours of drive we arrived at Bichugunda by 6 PM. People were waiting for us to hear the Word. I preached on the love and compassion of Jesus and an alter call was given to serve Jesus. 150 people came in tears asking for prayer and confessing their faith in Jesus. I prayed for everyone and the meeting was over by 11 PM.

On 23rd morning baptism class was attended by 200 people and 67 committed their lives for baptism of which 20 who were studying the word for last two months were baptized on the same day. All of them were from Buddhist background.
23rd night meeting was attended by 350 people . My message on the mission of Jesus was responded by 180 commitments to the Lord. People declared their faith in Jesus through open confession. I thank God for the privilege he has given in my life to preach Jesus in these villages. This makes Christmas real and meaningful to me. Eternity will prove the harvest. These are the people whom we have seen but there were many listening the gospel in their homes and beds.

We also blessed 10 widows with new clothes and also fed 600 people with rice and chicken curry . God helped us to give the villagers the bread of life and bread for life also. Pastor Silas at Bichugunda is also reaching out 6 more villages. In every village he has a fellowship of 30 to 40 people who love Jesus and worship Him. Bichugunda believers need a prayer hall. It will cost $3000. Yes the doors are opened, the people are waiting to hear the gospel. God has also opened doors for two Mercy Homes in Bichugunda and Bensuvada villages. We would like to conduct two crusades every month. Please pray for this.

Looking forward to hear from you
Pastor Daniel
